Behind the Scenes: New Exhibitions

February was a very busy month for us in Curatorial. We opened two new temporary exhibitions, Sacred Scenes: Icons of the Orthodox Church, and Ordinary Lives with photography by Rania Matar. We documented the installation process for each exhibit with additional photos on flickr here and here.

With Sacred Scenes we actually had the artist and his team available to install some of his works on acrylic panels.

Artist Vlasios Tsotsonis seen far right.

The gallery started out with a lot of crates…
…and ended up with a beautifully finished exhibit.
Ordinary Lives had fewer crates and pieces to assemble…

All the photos fit in just two of these crates

…and also ended in a beautiful exhibition.
We hope you will see both exhibitions on your next visit to the AANM.

Sacred Scenes on exhibit through June 1, 2014
Ordinary Lives on exhibit through August 31, 2014
